You’re Safe Here.
Have you noticed the same problems keep popping up in your life? Are you struggling to break out of familiar but unhelpful patterns? Or, maybe life has just been handing you too many challenges, and you aren’t sure how to cope. Maybe you just feel stuck.
Hi! My name is Amy Kuehl (She/her)
Hello! My name is Amy Kuehl (she/her), and I’m a cisgender queer woman who was raised in a conservative community. Through my life experiences and learning, I have come to understand how each person’s challenges are informed and impacted by the unique systems they are a part of. Sometimes I find that these systems make it challenging to get to know or accept yourself, which can further contribute to challenges with identity, self-worth, relationships, anxiety, and depression.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, non-judgemental space to empower you to gain greater agency and make sense of your experiences. My approach is integrative, which means I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities to tailor our work to your needs and support you in developing a more cohesive understanding of yourself. A few modalities we may use are: psychodynamic (exploring how the past influences the present), cognitive-behavioral (understanding and learning to change unhelpful patterns of thinking), and somatic approaches (tuning into your bodily sensations in the present moment to increase mind-body connection). I strive to collaborate with you as you gain both insight and practical tools for greater resilience in navigating our ever-tumultuous world.
While I have experience working with a wide range of ages and identities, I have a passion for working with queer and trans individuals in early adulthood, many of whom are navigating college and other significant life changes. If you are grappling with a major life transition, such as entering college or graduate school or navigating a separation, and are seeking an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, I would love to meet with you.
As a trauma-informed and social justice-oriented therapist, I’m here to help you face your worries and challenges, celebrate your triumphs, and find humor and levity even amidst the pain. Please reach out for a consultation if you are interested in working with me. I look forward to connecting with you!
